Where Do Canadians Live?Canada’s population is reaching 33.5 million. The majority of Canadians, 77 percent, live in cities and towns. Nearly 90 percent of Canadians live along the 6,379 km southern border with the USA. Growth concentration is seen in large urban regions of Canada. From a demographic point of view, three major urban regions continue to emerge, and they account for 31% of the nation's population. These regions are: Ontario's extended Golden Horseshoe including the GTA; Montréal and adjacent region, British Columbia's Lower Mainland surrounding Vancouver. English is the mother tongue of 16.1 million Canadians, and 6.5 million French speaking Canadians. |
